Shapiro resonances in an isolated ac-driven double Bose-Einstein condensate

We propose a method to realize Shapiro resonances in isolated Bose condensates. These correspond to stable values of the average chemical potential difference which are integer multiples of driving frequency in natural units. Due to the intrinsically random value of the initial phase, it is not possible to develop a scheme that ensures frequency locking in each experimental run where two initially separate condensates are suddenly connected. We develop a model to analytically estimate the parameters needed to optimize the feasibility and the accuracy of the resulting chemical potential standard.
